Little Girls

Little Girls

God made the world with its towering trees,
majestic mountains and restless seas,
then paused and said, “it needs one more thing –
someone to laugh and dance and sing,
To walk in the woods and gather flowers,
to commune with nature in quiet hours.”

So god made little girls with laughing eyes
And bouncing curls,
with joyful hearts and infectious smiles,
enchanting ways and feminine wiles,
And he’d completed the task he’d begun,
He was pleased and proud of the job he’d done.
For the world when seen through a little girl’s eyes,
greatly resembles Paradise.

Why Captured by Columbines?

So as a young girl I worked for the Division of Wildlife as an Angler Educator. We spent most our time teaching kids from Denver how to fish at Chatfield Reservoir. But on occasion we made our way up the canyon to Fisheries outside little towns like Tin Cup and Gunnison, Colorado. There I discovered my first experience of being in a huge foothill landscaped entirely in columbines and other wildflowers. It was there that I truly realized how much I love and need nature. It beckons me and it is there that I find my deepest peace, purest pleasure and most profound connection to Him and His creation.

A Mom of Spirited Kids

"The spirited child-often called "difficult" or "strong-willed"--possesses traits we value in adults yet find challenging in children. Research shows that spirited kids are wired to be "more"-by temperament, they are more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent, and uncomfortable with change than the average child." It seems as though we have four, and they are very much like me. What does this mean? I need to be compassionate, consistent, confident, controlled, all with a gentle yet firm approach. Yes my plate is full.

About

Hello I am Jenna. Wife, mom of four kiddos. A lover of many things outdoors including hiking, camping, fires, fishing, sand washing over my toes and many other activities. I love to read and fan my face with the pages of an old book. Was even lucky enough to inherit my grandfathers library from his youth as a literature student at Rutgers. I like sewing, cooking for clean eating, walks around my neighborhood and reading my kids bedtime stories. I enjoy meeting new people, going new places, disappearing for hours by myself on a secret adventure, but also going to dinner and drinks with family and friends. I hope you like my random thoughts, poems, or whatever I chose to write. Love Jenna
